‘Buna zua! Kum ješć?’ - REYN-Croatia presents the course for teaching the basics of Beyash language for adults, first of this kind in Croatia

Main_bt6 Course is offered to the members of REYN-Croatia (primarily to educators and other professionals working with Roma children) and it is taught by Romani assistants, Biljana Horvat and Elvis Kralj, with mentorship guidance by professor Radosavljević. Beyash language (old Romanian dialect) is spoken by large number of Roma in Croatia, and the vast majority of Roma in Međimurje County, where the number of Roma is the greatest in the country. So far there have been no written (nor published) resources in Beyash language or any teaching/learning resources of this kind.

Educators and educational institutions can promote the development of positive identities of all children. Guided by this principle, REYN-Croatia and Open Academy Step by Step, in co-operation with experts – Elvis Kralj (Romani assistant and native speaker of Beyash language), Petar Radosavljević (expert for Beyash language and professor at the University of Zagreb), Bernarda Novak (elementary school teacher) and Ivana Čurila (foreign language teacher) have developed the module and textbook for learning the basis of Beyash language for adults, first of this kind in Croatia.

First group of 14 attendants started with the course on April 28th 2017, but we are happy to share the news that even the second language course group that will begin in September 2017 is – full.
